Covenant Christian Academy is seeking a Physical Education Teacher to teach our Grammar (Grades PreK through 6) and Logic School (Grades 7 & 8) Physical Education Classes. A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education, Kinesiology, or Exercise Science (or other applicable field), and experience teaching is preferred. Applicants should have a strong background in athletics and should be able to relate well with Grammar and Logic School aged students. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education curriculum that promotes physical fitness, health, and overall well-being among students while incorporating Christian values and principles.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement age-appropriate physical education programs for Grammar School and Upper School students that align with Christian values
• Instruct students on various physical activities, sports, and exercises
• Monitor and assess student progress in physical education classes, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment
• Promote and educate students on the importance of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle from a Christian perspective
• Assist the Athletic Director in organizing and supervising after-school sports activities and events
• Assist the Athletic Director in planning and running end-of-season awards nights for Upper School sports
• Assist the Athletic Director in planning and running after-school sports clinics for Grammar School students
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and participation in physical education classes
• Plan, organize, and run a half-day “Field Day” for grades K-6 each May.

Qualifications:

• A mature Christian faith and the ability to nurture this faith in children
• Experience in managing active groups with a welcome measure of structure while maintaining a spirit of grace and community
• Readiness to collaborate with colleagues, specialists, parents, and the larger school community
• Ability to teach a variety of sports skills and plan physical conditioning programs that will enable students to perform at their highest personal level
• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field required; Master's degree preferre
• Commitment to integrating Christian values into the physical education curriculum
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Contract runs: August 2024 through June 2025; teaching is on a 10-month cycle
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
